This boxed set contains all 7 volumes; that’s 39 episodes and over 900 minutes of Sailor Moon fun. The box is fairly simple with a Sailor Moon picture on one side, and Sailor Chibi Moon on the other. The best thing overall about this box is its size. Geneon has released this boxed set using thin-packs to contain the DVDs. From what I have been told, this is the first time that these wonderfully thin space saving DVD storage cases have been used for an anime collection (I do have several sets from FOX that put these smaller cases to good use.) This makes for a compact and convenient box that looks rally nice. For those of you who are not familiar with Sailor Moon, you might want to wait on this set for a little bit. Check out a few early episodes and see if it’s up your alley. If you like it, go ahead and get the first series Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon Super S is the fourth Sailor Moon TV series, and it does not retell any of the back-story from the previous shows. In this series, the Dead Moon Circus comes to town looking to capture the magical creature Pegasus. Pegasus is hiding within Sailor Chibi Moon’s beautiful dreams, but they don’t know that. They begin to systematically attack all of the people with beautiful dreams one at a time looking for Pegasus’ whereabouts. The Only thing that can stop them is Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts. Sailor Chibi Moon must guard her friend, but what will happen if the Dead Moon Circus finds out her secret? Sailor Moon has become a major hit within the anime scene. It may not be the best quality show or have the best quality stories, but there is something appealing about it. Although I do consider myself a fan I know that the show has many limitations that some people just can’t get past. This series was originally shown in Japan from 1995-1996. The episodes have a very systematic feel, and you will quickly notice a pattern for the storylines as you watch. The price is right considering how much you would pay if you bought all the volumes individually. A downside though is the lack of special features. It only has one per disc on the first six discs and we get shafted on disc 7. They are all variations on the openings and closings with the exception of Vol. 6, which has small picture gallery. This boxed set is a wonderful thing for any Sailor Moon fan to own. It’s really nice to have so much material at hand with such a convenient way to store it. If you buy this one, set some time aside to get down to some serious watching; with over 15 hours of material you’ll be busy for awhile. -brant-
