GAMETRAILERS CROWNS WINNERS OF GAME OF THE YEAR AWARDS 06

Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Takes The Top Honor

Santa Monica, Calif. – (Jan 9, 2007) – GameTrailers (GT) announced today the winners of its Game Of The Year Awards 06. Celebrating the greatest achievements in games for 2006, one winner was selected in each of 26 game award categories. The GT editorial staff reviewed hundreds of games released throughout the year by platform, genre, artistry and innovation to put together their elite list of nominees and ultimate winners. To honor the esteemed games on the site, GT produced high quality video packages for each category, showcasing game play highlights and providing editorial commentary of the five nominees and one winning game. The top award, “Game of the Year,” was given to Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, while other stand-out winners included 2K Games’ BioShock for “Best Trailer” and the Xbox 360 for “Best Hardware.”

“With two brand new consoles on the market and the Xbox 360 hitting its stride, 2006 is possibly the greatest year for video games yet,” said Shane Satterfield, Editor-in-Chief, GameTrailers. “Virtually every publisher released a game worthy of consideration this year, and it was incredibly difficult choosing the nominees and winners.
